# Phase 12A Public Design, Content and Help Report

Date: 30 June 2026

## Certificate corrections

- Removed the secondary signature caption and QR caption from the browser certificate.
- Kept only the certificate title, learner name, course title, certificate code, issue date,
optional duration, signature, seal, and QR code.
- Rebalanced the certificate into header, completion body, information row, and fixed footer rows.
- Added larger bottom padding and final print overrides for A4 landscape output.
- Long learner and course names use responsive size classes in the browser and smaller wrapping text
in the PDF generator instead of extending beyond the frame.
- The generated PDF no longer prints QR captions or the website beneath the QR code.

## Category structure

- Added nine public top-level categories with labelled line icons, individual colours, descriptions,
counts, subcategories, related categories, filters, and category-specific hero sections.
- Original category values remain attached to every course.
- Original names are retained as API aliases and public subcategories.
- Old category slugs redirect permanently to the mapped top-level category.
- Short, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma are treated as programme types.
- Admin mapping controls update the grouping metadata without rewriting or deleting courses.
- Full mapping details are in `COURSEPEDIA_CATEGORY_MAPPING.md`.

## Content Manager

The new administrator-only Content Manager includes:

- Pages and structured page editor
- Reusable page blocks with add, delete, reorder, preview, draft, and publish controls
- Footer editor
- FAQ manager
- Student and instructor help guide editor
- Media reference manager with alternative text
- Category mapping controls
- Revision history and restore
- Audit logs for important content changes

Managed data is stored in the existing settings collection, so JSON compatibility mode and
PostgreSQL use the same persistence contract. Protected system logic is not editable.

## Public design and layout

- Added reusable full, wide, standard, reading, and dashboard container rules.
- Widened catalogue, category, informational, dashboard, and admin compositions while retaining a
  narrow policy reading width.
- Added full-width visual hero treatments with readable inner content.
- Reworked category cards and information pages for stronger hierarchy and scanning.
- Mobile layouts collapse grids without horizontal page overflow.

## Footer

- Replaced the blended light footer with a full-width deep navy Coursepedia footer.
- Added orange accent, high-contrast headings, contact details, editable description, and responsive
  link groups.
- Added Using Coursepedia, Student Guide, and Instructor Guide under Support.
- Social links were not invented; they remain absent until official URLs are supplied.

## Informational pages and help centre

- Existing FAQ, contact, about, how-it-works, certification, and certificate-help pages now use the
stronger public hero and managed content system.
- Added `/using-coursepedia/` with distinct student and instructor pathways.
- Added `/using-coursepedia/students/` with visual steps covering accounts, discovery, enrolment,
payment, dashboard, learning, quizzes, certificates, verification, and support.
- Added `/using-coursepedia/instructors/` with visual steps covering access, course details,
lessons, quizzes, certificate rules, preview, publishing, learner tracking, and admin support.
- Added on-page navigation, quick actions, icon cards, and FAQ sections.
- `/using-our-platform/` permanently redirects to the new help centre.

## Known and manual work

- Production administrators should review category mappings for any new categories added after this
report and adjust subcategory wording where subject experts prefer a different placement.
- Real screenshots can be added through the Media Manager when approved Coursepedia product images
  are available.
- Production storage still needs persistent media hosting and upload scanning.
- Final launch approval still requires the Phase 13 SMTP, gateway, PostgreSQL reconciliation, backup,
  and live payment checks.
